Maybe he's just well-read...

"...or maybe he's well-red."

(pssst if you look closely you can totally see the grease stain from where I spilled the best pasta ever and had to change during my lunch break)

This quote from Seinfeld always stuck in my head, and now I finally have a use for it (sort of) - turning it into an outfit that's pretty much an excuse to wear this super warm wool shirt. I never really wear red that much (except for lipstick), so now I have a reason to. In case you're not a rabid Seinfeld fan like I am, the gist of the quote goes something like this: Elaine's boyfried is a communist and reads the Daily Worker - she defends him by saying he's "just well-read", and then George chimes in with this witty little bit of wordplay.

It took me ages to find a video of the episode online, so I figured I might as well post a screenshot or two so I can feel productive.

Soooo this outfit is inspired by...communism? Well, not really (it's basically just the idea of wearing red), although I guess the buttoned-up shirt is kind of utilitarian and practical and suitable for the proletarian masses or something. Sorry if you're a communist and I just trivialized your entire ideology in that sentence - my bad.

(I just realized how ridiculous that paragraph sounds. This outfit is not inspired by communism. I just got the idea to wear red because of this episode.)

(I also use parentheses a lot, I've realized)

This is that awkward time of year when it's too dark in the mornings for non-flash photos to come out well, but not dark enough that the flash photos actually start to look good by comparison. So... some of each? The obligatory skirt-twirling photos come out better with the flash anyway.

  1. i can't decide whether george is witty or not. you look good in red and i love your tights and shoes.

you know, i have this issue with waist ties and paperbag shorts/trousers/skirts. on the one hand, the bow is adorable and one looks like a present. on the other, one looks like a present!

  5. Haha I enjoyed your paragraph. I've never heard of an outfit inspired by communism that's not inspired by communism.

Anyhow, you look lovely in red. That skirt has a great shape.
